Neubie

Going Beyond Traditional Pediatric PT

Whorton Pediatric Therapy is proud to be the only clinic in the Navarre area offering the Neubie® as part of pediatric physical therapy. When appropriate, this innovative technology can supplement traditional hands-on therapy by using targeted neuromuscular electrical stimulation to support muscle activation, movement, strength, and motor retraining. Combined with individualized pediatric PT, the Neubie gives us another tool to help your child work toward their fullest potential.

What Makes the Neubie Different?

The Neubie® (short for ‘Neuro-Bio-Electric,’) is an FDA-cleared device that can be used alongside traditional pediatric physical therapy to help your child’s brain and body work together more effectively.  Unlike the electrical stimulation you may have experienced in traditional physical therapy, the Neubie uses direct current (DC) which mimics the nervous system. Rather than simply stimulating a muscle, we incorporate it into activities like reaching, standing, walking, balance, or strengthening, depending on your child’s individual needs. For some children, this gives us another way to work on muscle activation, strength, coordination, movement patterns, and neuromuscular re-education. The Neubie doesn’t replace hands-on pediatric physical therapy, it gives us another tool to help your child get the most out of treatment.

What is the Neubie Used For?

A variety of pediatric conditions, including but not limited to:

o Torticollis and neck asymmetry in infants

o Developmental and gross motor delays

o Low muscle tone

o Neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy

o Balance and coordination challenges

o Difficulty with crawling, standing, or walking milestones

While results vary based on each child's needs, the Neubie has supported

meaningful progress for many pediatric patients, from improved head and

neck control in infants to stronger, more coordinated movement in

toddlers and young children.
